In
Reference to the Former Organization
On the second Saturday in November, 1860 Bros.
John.W. Haynes, Nathan Ayers, and Robert Painter met in what was called Blue
School house located one mile south of this church. It was a small log building
situated on a little branch in the edge of the woods without any enclosure
around it. Here these good brothers organized the first Baptist church in this
part of the country, and its name lives today. It was called Littleby, hence
ours is only a reorganization of that body. |

Church met. After dinner service by Bro. N. S.
Johnston the church was organized for the transaction of business. Delegates
were appointed to represent us in the association.
At this meeting an effort was made to obtain
means to build a house of worship, Though the task looked like a mountain it
could not withstand the effort made by Bro. Johnston. The money was raised and
in due time the house was built and stands as a fitting monument to those who
contributed so liberally and as a lasting blessing to the neighborhood. This
meeting closed with the usual ceremonies. |
